2026 Yampa Basin Rendezvous

2026 Yampa Basin Rendezvous

Soil, Fire, and Water: A Holistic Investigation of Watershed Health for Working Lands

27-28 May 2026, Colorado Mountain College Steamboat Springs

The Yampa River is one of the wildest remaining major tributaries of the Colorado River and supports a rich ecosystem, local agriculture and ranching, and a robust recreation industry. It also provides crucial water supplies to local stakeholders and all those downstream. However, warming temperatures, rising snowlines, and increased drought occurrence and severity pose serious risks to the water-reliant ecosystems of the Yampa River Basin.

The purpose of this conference is to bring together local community members, academic researchers, and regional experts for two days of exploration, discussion, and field learning focusing on how attendees can work together to build resilience in the face of the Western climate and water crisis.

The Rendezvous will include morning talks by expert panelists and practitioners, lunch, afternoon field learning, and an evening community showcase and happy hour event.

Join us if you are a community member, landowner, natural resource professional, student, or water-dependent business! Brought to you by the 2026 YBR Steering Committee.
